Show Progress and Improve Shooting Skills

Hockey training are measured by one overriding metric: Improvement. Thankfully, the SS2 can do exactly that. The SS2 can measure the improved skills to the player and the player’s coaches and parents in a variety of ways. Fun games, changing the distance and measuring shot speed are a few of many metrics training centers leverage.

The easiest and most commonly used measurement is to record the time it takes the shooter to shoot and receive the puck, hitting all 6 “holes.” Beginners can take up to a minute. Proficient shooters can complete in less than 12 seconds. Once this level is reached, the shooter moves back 2 feet and shoots from the longer distance. Some training centers also record the shot speed of the shooter training on the SuperShooter2. This speed is the “true” speed the shooter can perform at when shooting and passing the puck.

Most Important Feature: Motivation Doesn’t Drop

The returned puck feature is key. It motivates the shooter to keep shooting and to “follow the puck” so they complete their 200 to 300 shots in 20 minutes and follow through with their on-ice shots! The feedback we have received is that it helps keep attention and interest.

To increase volume of shooters, pairs of shooters can train at the same time. Two players of similar skill shoot opposite of each other. One player shoots and the other receives the shot puck and the players alternate. This makes the players focus on their shot and who is to receive it, and really challenges each player.
